One location. Five looks.
I got to do engagement portraits last week for a couple that works with my company in China. (Congrats again, Tim and Ventia!) Thanks their great chemistry and comfort in front of the camera, it was no work at all to get fantastic shots of them as we wondered through Tianjin’s city parks, back yards, and car washes.
We covered a lot of ground - I’ll post some more later that prove it if you don’t believe me. The 5 pictures in this post, however, are solely from one location. This fantastic spot happens to be right across from my apartment complex and we started shooting there at about 7:30am. Though it looks nice in the pictures, it is really nothing more than some dirty green space around a tepid, polluted canal.
What I love about these 5 photos is that they illustrate the freedom we have as photographers to control the lighting to suit our interests. I had just one spot and one kind of light (misty morning sunlight), but I got several distinctive looks just by manipulating the settings, angles, positioning, etc (I’m listing the EXIF of each image just for kicks). If you know me well, you know that I hate feeling ‘trapped’ or locked in to one way of doing things. So with my own psychoses and these creative freedoms in mind, I start to remember why I learned to like photography in the first place. That being said, I’m not just a woman of one location. Onward!
